Ingredients
- 1 pound pre-made pizza dough
- 1/2 cup ricotta cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup hot honey (recipe follows)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
- Fresh basil leaves, for garnish
- Sea salt, to taste
- Hot Honey Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1-2 red chilies, finely chopped (or 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes)
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C). Place pizza stone or baking sheet in the oven while preheating.
- While the oven heats, prepare the hot honey. In a small saucepan, combine honey, chopped chilies (or red pepper flakes), and apple cider vinegar. Bring to a simmer over medium heat and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- On a lightly floured surface, stretch or roll out the pizza dough to your desired thickness and shape.
- Brush the pizza dough with olive oil and sprinkle with garlic powder and a pinch of red pepper flakes (if using).
- Spread the ricotta cheese evenly over the pizza dough, leaving a small border for the crust.
- Sprinkle the Parmesan cheese over the ricotta.
- Carefully transfer the pizza to the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
- Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
- Drizzle the hot honey generously over the pizza. Garnish with fresh basil leaves and a sprinkle of sea salt. Slice and serve immediately.
Notes
For a crispier crust, pre-bake the dough for 5 minutes before adding toppings. Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes or chilies in the hot honey to your spice preference. Store leftover hot honey in an airtight container at room temperature.
