Ingredients
Scale
- 2 large Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup graham cracker crumbs
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- Non-stick cooking spray (coconut or vegetable oil)
- Caramel sauce, for dipping
- Whipped cream (optional)
Instructions
- Peel the apples (optional) and core them. Slice the apples into wedges about 1/2 inch thick to resemble thick-cut fries.
- Prepare a dredging station with three shallow bowls. Place the flour in the first bowl. Beat the eggs in the second bowl. In the third bowl, mix the graham cracker crumbs, sugar, and cinnamon together.
- Take an apple slice and toss it in the flour to coat lightly, shaking off any excess. Dip it into the egg wash, then press it firmly into the graham cracker mixture to ensure a thick, even coating.
- Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (190°C). Place the coated apple fries in the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring they do not touch. You may need to work in batches.
- Spray the apple fries generously with cooking spray. Air fry for 5 minutes, then flip the fries over, spray again, and cook for another 3-5 minutes until the coating is golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from the air fryer and let them cool for 2-3 minutes to crisp up further. Serve warm with caramel sauce or whipped cream for dipping.
Notes
Granny Smith apples hold their shape best and provide a nice tart contrast to the sweet coating. If you have leftovers, reheat them in the air fryer for 2-3 minutes to restore crispiness.
